The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has strengthened its partnership with Stanbic IBTC Bank Limited following a courtesy visit led by the President and Chairman of Council, Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, mni, FCA, to the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chuma Nwokocha, in Lagos on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.
The engagement focused on strategic collaboration in professional education, capacity building, and institutional development.
Hajia Seghosime highlighted ICAN’s transition to Computer Based Examinations and sought Stanbic IBTC’s partnership in advancing the initiative, as well as support for the 56th Annual Accountants’ Conference scheduled for 18 to 23 October 2026 in Abuja.
Mr. Nwokocha expressed the Bank’s readiness to deepen its partnership with ICAN and pledged support for the Conference, noting Stanbic IBTC’s annual sponsorship of at least 20 members of staff to participate.
Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to expanding practical areas of collaboration that promote professional development and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
The Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu, received the President and Chairman of Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, mni, FCA, and her delegation on a courtesy visit at the Lagos State Government House on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
Governor Sanwo Olu commended ICAN’s contribution to accountability and good governance, describing accountants as bold professionals who are taking charge and recognising their role in the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.
Hajia Seghosime expressed ICAN’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the Lagos State Government in public financial management, accountability and capacity development.
She also highlighted the ICAN Accountability Index (ICAN AI) and sought the State Government’s support for ICAN’s transition to electronic examinations.
The ICAN President further invited Governor Sanwo Olu to the 56th Annual Accountants’ Conference, scheduled for 18 to 23 October 2026 in Abuja, themed:
“Beyond Numbers: Strengthening the Economy, Securing the Nation.”

Hamzat Ayodele Subair, FCA, FCTI, on Friday, July 10, 2026, to strengthen collaboration on tax administration, professional
development and fiscal governance.
Speaking during the visit, Hajia Seghosime commended LIRS for its leadership in revenue administration, digital transformation and
institutional excellence, noting that the Service has become a benchmark for tax administration across Africa. She reaffirmed ICAN’s
commitment to supporting LIRS through technical advisory, research, policy advocacy and capacity development, while also seeking
the Service’s continued partnership in the Institute’s programmes, including the 56th Annual Accountants’ Conference.
Responding, Mr Subair congratulated Hajia Seghosime on her election as the 62nd President of ICAN and reaffirmed LIRS’
commitment to deepening its longstanding relationship with the Institute through collaboration in professional
development, taxpayer education, policy advocacy and initiatives that promote voluntary tax compliance.

The President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, mni, MSc, FCA, paid a courtesy visit to a Past President of the Institute, Mazi Nnamdi Anthony Okwuadigbo, BSc, FCA, who served as ICAN's 55th President from 2019 to 2020, at his residence in Port Harcourt.
The courtesy visit provided an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the current leadership of the Institute and its past leadership, while recognising the valuable contributions of past Presidents to the growth and development of ICAN.
The engagement further underscored the Institute's commitment to maintaining strong relationships with its former leaders and drawing on their wealth of experience and institutional knowledge.
