The Faculty is a cluster or group of members interested in the pursuit of knowledge, research and advancement in a particular area of expertise in the practice of accounting which includes but not limited to the following:
As centres of excellence, the seven Faculties are to provide technical support to members as well as offer them opportunities to Specialise in any area(s) of their choice. Faculties are therefore conceived as service and capacity building units of the Institute designed to support members as they carry out their respective value creating activities. Faculties register, train, and issue certificates to their members as evidence of proficiency and competence in their area of specialization.
Membership of the Faculty is open to all members of the Institute. Members can join their preferred faculty by sending mail to faculty@ican.org.ng OR For Manual registration:
For On-line registration:
Please note that the on-line registration is not complete until you have successfully printed the Faculty registration confirmation form. Faculty Fees: For individual members: Registration: N2,500 per Faculty Annual subscription: N2,500 per Faculty For corporate members: Registration: N5,000 per Faculty Annual subscription: N5,000 per Faculty
A member is allowed to belong to a minimum of 1 (one) Faculty and maximum of 3 (three) Faculties.
All stakeholders benefit from the creation of Specialised Faculties.
All Faculties' programmes are open to all ICAN members whether or not one is a registered member of that Faculty. However, non-members of that Faculty may be required to pay a token fee to participate.
Going by the decision of the Council of the Institute, with effect from 2009, members are obliged to belonging to at least one and a maximum of 3 Faculties.
After paying the initial registration fee, subsequent fee to be paid is annual subscription falling due on 1st January of each year.
Yes. Non-members have been benefitting from the Faculties' programmes by having access to the resources both printed and on-line. However, the certification / proficiency training are currently limited to members only.
If after registration for a particular Faculty and one desires a different one, a formal letter is written to the Institute requesting for a change from the initial Faculty and stating which Faculty one now wants to belong.
The difficulty in accessing online registration may be attributed to the traffic at the site at a particular time.
Faculty registration form is not attached to journals, etc because the form is already on ICAN WEBSITE.
All the programmes of the Faculties attract credit hours, which depends on the depth of coverage.
The objective of the Faculties is to build professional capacity for service delivery and extend the horizon of members. Therefore, members are in no way restricted from benefiting from knowledge available in any of the Faculties.
