The Diamond ICAN President, Chief Davidson Chizuoke Stephen Alaribe, FCA attended Yaba College of Technology for his Ordinary National Diploma in accounting in 1991 and Higher National Diploma (HND) in accounting in 1996.
He passed the ICAN qualifying examinations in May 1994, inducted an Associate member of the Institute in May 1995 and became a Fellow in 2000. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Theology from the Redeemed Christian Bible College in 2006 and a Master of Arts in Theology in 2010. He also attended Police Training School Ikeja (2008 – 2009) where he was the General Number 1 (Class Captain) and made significant contributions which earned him the award of the Most Distinguished Student. He initiated the formation of the Police Training School Alumni Association and served as pioneer Chairman from 2009 to 2014.
The Diamond ICAN President worked for P.Z. Industries as an Accounting Officer from 1984 to 1990 before gaining admission into the prestigious Yaba College of Technology. His career path led him through various organizations, including Thomas Kingsley Securities Limited, First AlState Securities (both members of the Nigerian Stock Exchange) and D.N. Offor & Co. Chartered Accountants, before he established his own enterprise, D.C.S. Alaribe Group, which includes DCSA Consult, DCS Alaribe & Associates and DCS Alaribe & Co. Chartered Accountants where he is the Founder and Principal Partner.
Throughout his illustrious career, Chief Alaribe has been a steadfast servant to ICAN, contributing at both District and National levels. The Chief Story Teller, as he is fondly called in ICAN, has acted as an Assessor (for ICAN exams) from 1999 – 2009 and had to step down when he became the Chairman of Lagos Mainland & District Society. He was also the Coordinator of the following ICAN district societies: Asaba, Ojo Badagry and Agbara, Kaduna and Zaria, Warri, Abraka, Benin, Auchi , Ilorin and Offa (where he served twice), Umuahia, Owerri, Ekpoma, Ilaro, Cameroon, UK, US, Canada, Malaysia, Gwagwalada as well as ICAN Chapters at the CBN, NNPC and Transmission Company of Nigeria. It is on record that the Diamond ICAN President assisted in reviving the Abraka & district society in 2012/2013 Presidential Year. He is also a Patron to many District Societies including Lagos Mainland, Mowe, Bonny Island, Umuahia amongst others.
His professional journey is distinguished by significant contributions to ICAN, where he served with unparalleled distinction in various capacities. Chief Alaribe led the committee that prepared the current Bye-Law that guides the operations and governance of the Institute’s District Societies. Furthermore, he chaired the Committee that reviewed the current Procurement Manual in use by the Institute which has enhanced due process, accountability and transparency. He also chaired the committee that midwifed the e-learning programme of the Institute. He equally Chaired the Professional Practice Committee that streamlined and cleared the backlog of applications from members who applied for attachment to firms as well as those who applied for new or renewal of licences.
The professional impact of the Diamond President extends beyond the national frontiers influencing regional accountancy practices as he currently serves as the Treasurer and Board Member of the Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa (ABWA), Board Member of the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA) and Council member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
He is happily married to Dr (Mrs) Chinwe Alaribe and blessed with four wonderful children, and the first son is also an Associate member of the Institute.
