The ICAN President, Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, mni, M.Sc., FCA, 62nd President & Chairman of Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). A distinguished Chartered Accountant, accomplished tax administrator, governance expert, and transformational leader, she brings nearly four decades of exceptional professional experience spanning public service, professional practice, and institutional leadership. Named in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II's 1956 visit to Nigeria, Queensley has, over the years, grown into her name, embodying the dignity, resilience, grace, and leadership for which she is widely known. Her career has been defined by integrity, excellence, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to advancing the accounting profession and national development. She served the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) with distinction for several decades, rising to the position of Coordinating Director (Compliance and Enforcement). During her tenure, she provided strategic leadership in tax administration and compliance, contributed to major institutional reforms, and represented Nigeria on international tax platforms, including the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes. Following her successful public service career, she became the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Advisory Services at Quebaan Professional Services, where she continues to provide strategic advisory services in taxation, governance, finance, leadership, and organisational transformation. A committed servant of the profession, Hajia Seghosime has played an active role in ICAN's growth and development since her election to the Council in 2014. She has served the Institute in several strategic capacities, contributing to policy development, professional standards, capacity building, and institutional transformation. Her election as the Institute's 62nd President reflects the confidence reposed in her leadership, experience, and unwavering dedication to the profession. Beyond ICAN, she is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and an alumna of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru. She served as a Member of the Tax Appeal Tribunal for six years and currently serves on the Nigeria Tax Policy Implementation Committee. She also served on the Board of the Nigerian Accounting Standards Board, now the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC), contributing to the advancement of financial reporting, corporate governance, and regulatory standards in Nigeria.
