ASSISTANT MANAGER- AUDIT/ASSURANCE AND TAX REGULATORY The Assistant Manager manages and coordinates engagements within the Audit/Assurance and Tax regulatory units. These are specialized units within the audit and tax departments that focuses on delivering stellar services to the engagement teams cost-effectively and efficiently. The Assistant Manager makes sure that all engagements are finished on schedule and with excellent quality. The role supports the manager in achieving the strategic objectives. Planning and execution of audit fieldwork and statutory reporting across a portfolio of clients 2. Project management of all aspects of audit including agreeing audit timelines, team briefings and supervision, and delivery of audit work 3. Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of projects, focusing on optimising profitability 4. Identifying, researching and helping to resolve complex audit issues 5. Building relationships with the client staff and acting as an ambassador for the firm 6. Working on audit tenders and working as part of the relevant independence team on these tenders. Tasks may include: reviewing engagement records in sentinel, analysing and categorising the records, contacting partners for engagement information, preparing data and drafting independence reports 7. Review and reconcile general ledger entries for tax implications 8. Ensure compliance, timely filing and remittance of all taxes and levies (such as Expatriate PAYE, VAT, WHT, CIT, ET, business premises levy, development levy, etc. within government time frame. 9. Manage relationships with tax authorities and clients and support all tax audits. 10. Provide comprehensive reports on every tax audit exercise and give regular status updates on tax cases, remittances, levies, fees, payments to agents. 11. Be abreast with all tax regulations and new promulgation / enactments and advice clients accordingly. 12. Ensure all clients tax queries and correspondences are responded to, and appropriate steps are taken to avoid penalties due to non-compliance. 13. SENIOR ASSOCIATE- AUDIT/ASSURANCE AND TAX REGULATORY The Senior Associate will be involved in engagements within the Audit/Assurance and Tax regulatory units. These are specialized units within the audit and tax departments that focuses on delivering stellar services to the engagement teams cost-effectively and efficiently. The role supports the assistant manager in achieving the strategic objectives. High-quality work, high level of professionalism and ongoing development are required for this function. We will look to you to show initiative, be proactive, and expertise that will enable the firm apply best practices in audit and tax management. Job responsibilities • Start and take financial advisory assignments (forensic accounting investigation, Due Diligence) to a logical conclusion with minimal supervision • Start and take audit assignments to logical conclusions with supervision. • Demonstrate basic awareness of prevailing accounting standards, as well as accounting disclosure requirements for the captions, worked on • Prepare audited financial statement for medium/large companies with minimal supervision. • Prepare and put together simple audit working papers and schedules with minimal supervision (expenses, cash, and bank, property, plant and equipment etc.) • Prepare and file tax returns (Companies Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Personal Income Tax and Withholding Tax, amongst others) alongside computations and supporting documents; • Respond to queries from taxation regulatory authorities, including Federal Inland and State Internal Revenue Service • Manage Withholding Tax ("WHT") matters for Clients, including WHT credit note recovery; • Must be ready to attend to tax issues, reconciliations with relevant authorities, and get tax certificates for clients. • Ensure the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of records and procedures; and • Ensure compliance with the various tax policies and regulations. |
